Dr. Devon Kuehn Named Paidion Research Chief Medical Officer

Paidion Research, a clinical research organization (CRO) focused exclusively on pediatrics and specializing in NICU and PICU populations (neonatal and pediatric intensive care), recently added Devon Kuehn, MD, FAAP, to the team as Chief Medical Officer. A board-certified neonatologist and pediatrician, Dr. Kuehn brings more than 15 years of pediatric research and clinical trial program management experience to her role as CMO. She will serve as medical monitor for clinical trials, ensuring the safety of pediatric subjects, as well as perform clinical project management. Her duties include providing medical input on protocol design and conduct and regulatory documents (INDs, NDAs, PIPs, PSPs and EU filings); management and medical monitoring of clinical trials; feasibility and risk assessments and mitigation; medical reviews of clinical development plans, data, and forms; and interacting with the medical and scientific community aligned with Paidion’s research goals. “Paidion is fortunate to have such a highly regarded professional joining our team,” said Dr. Barry Mangum, Founder and CEO. “Dr. Kuehn is a born leader and brings many years of clinical trial experience to Paidion. We look forward to sharing Dr. Kuehn’s expertise in neonatal medicine with all of our pharmaceutical sponsors.”

Dr. Kuehn’s expertise includes five years of project and program management of East Carolina University’s Department of Pediatrics research program, where she managed over 20 industry-sponsored clinical trials. Her additional training includes epidemiology at NICHD, statistics at NIH, and clinical trials management at Duke University. “My training and experience offer an approach to clinical trial design and implementation that focuses on translation from research to the clinical application at the bedside,” she said. “My goal is to ensure each new therapy studied aligns with the known pathophysiology of a disease and the patient population, makes sense clinically, and advances treatment options for children. I am thrilled to join a team with the vision that pediatric research mandates a customized approach. No disease, no drug, no study and no child are the same. Paidion Research keeps this in mind from initial design, to study end, and with each child enrolled. Additionally, as a boutique CRO, Paidion Research offers unparalleled personalized interactions with its sponsors and sites.”
